We join all people of good will who feel loss and sadness in the death of Pope Francis, humble servant of God.
Among other things it is Pope Francis’ humanity, generous love and discipleship that stands out. He lived the Beatitudes and Jesus’ mission in Luke’s gospel: The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord’s year of favour.”
In his prayer, words and action Pope Francis entered into dialogue with all people. He has and still calls each of us to be voices of truth, doers of justice – right relationship among all people and with earth, and above all people ‘with the freedom to refer all to God’.
