  • Laudato Si' Week May 22 - 29

The weeklong global event will mark the seventh anniversary of Pope Francis' landmark encyclical on creation care and unite the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics to listen and respond to the cry of God’s creation. Catholics will rejoice in the progress we have made in bringing Laudato Si' to life, and intensify our efforts through the Vatican’s new Laudato Si' Action Platform. Each day of the week will be highlighted by a global event held in-person, online, or a combination of the two. The events will lift up Catholic teaching on biodiversity, responding to the cry of the poor, divestment, education, and eco-spirituality. Join an event Download reflections for Laudato Si' Week

  • Invest in Our Planet - Earth Day 2022

Everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable Earth Day 2022 - April 22, 2022 - is focused on pushing forward solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone to do their part. We need to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably). It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable. A partnership for the planet. Let us Pray "Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure." To succeed we must combine heart and mind in effective action. Let us first consider the following: In order to come together in care for our planet we must respect and care about one another. People of all creeds and persuasions find agreement in the three most important words in human history, “Love One Another." They were uttered by Jesus, the man most recognized in history as wise and good. Heartfelt love, faith and prayer are increasing around the world. While great differences exist in creeds and social issues, more and more people are finding common ground. There is growing awareness that we are one human family and must now take charge and take care of our planet. We can and must now come together where we agree – leaving room for differences on matters where we don't agree. And in the words of Wangari Maathai, a Kenyan environmentalist, political activist, and 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Loreto alumna: We are called to assist the earth to heal her wounds and, in the process, heal our own – indeed, to embrace the whole creation in all its diversity, beauty, and wonder. • Palm Sunday

Psalm 22 All who see me mock at me; they make mouths at me, they shake their heads; ‘Commit your cause to the Lord; let him deliver— let him rescue the one in whom he delights!’ For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. My hands and feet have shrivelled; I can count all my bones. They stare and gloat over me; they divide my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots. But you, O Lord, do not be far away! O my help, come quickly to my aid! The King of Glory Comes A Palm Sunday Prayer Let us enter the city of God today, And shout hosanna to our King. Let us join the walk toward freedom, And follow Christ's path to wholeness. Let our hearts ache For justice and mercy. And weep For peace and freedom. Let us turn our backs on the powers that grasp for control, And follow the one who brings life. Let us walk in solidarity with the abandoned and the oppressed and welcome the broken and the sick. Let us touch and see, as God draws near, Riding in triumph towards the Cross. Christine Sine The Servant Song No Greater Love

  • 5th Sunday of Lent

Psalm 126 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced. Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb. May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy. Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves. Holy is His Name - Talbot

Psalm 34 I will bless the Lord at all times; God’s praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt God’s name together. I sought the Lord, who answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Look to God, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed. This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord, and was saved from every trouble. O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in God O fear the Lord, you God’s holy ones, for those who fear God have no want. The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and God’s ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all. God keeps all their bones; not one of them will be broken. Evil brings death to the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in God will be condemned. The Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor

Psalm 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless God’s holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all God’s benefits. God forgives all your sins. and heals all your infirmities; God redeems your life from the grave and crowns you with mercy and loving-kindness; God satisfies you with good things, and your youth is renewed like an eagle's. God executes righteousness and judgment for all who are oppressed. God made God’s ways known to Moses and God’s works to the children of Israel. God is full of compassion and mercy, slow to anger and of great kindness. God will not always accuse us, nor will God keep their anger for ever. God has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our wickedness. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so is God’s mercy great upon those who fear God. As far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our sins from us. As a parent cares for their children, so does God care for those who fear God. For God indeed knows whereof we are made; God remembers that we are but dust. Our days are like the grass; we flourish like a flower of the field; When the wind goes over it, it is gone, and its place shall know it no more. But the merciful goodness of God endures for ever, and God’s righteousness on children's children; On those who keep God’s covenant and remember God’s commandments and do them. God has set the divine throne in heaven, and GOD’s authority rules overall. CAFOD – Second Sunday of Lent 2022 (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) Bless the Lord My Soul – Godspell (1973)
